Last week we saw Ash battling with his Chikorita, who was not feeling exactly like itself. It turned out it was just a but jealous of Pikachu and it decided to prove its worth in battle. This week we see a similar scenario, but this time from a lone Oddish in a community of Hoppips. We have had a string of episodes lately that take us to unique places that are off the beaten path. This episode is filled with battles, multiple Team Rocket blast offs, and even some good ol’fashioned morals. Let’s jump into it!

Last week we saw Ash and the party run into another sidewinder of a story arc, on their way to Azalea Town. When the group is feeling parched they stumbled across a water pipe to drink from, where they meet Sonrisa, who fills their canteens and leads them to Bloomingvale. Once in town we learn about the Sunflora Festival and how the town specializes in Training them. The festival shows us many Sunflora which of course attracted Team Rocket, who disguise Meowth and enter him into the contest. This led to us seeing a different side of Meowth, but not before an all out battle and an appearance from the famous Meowth Balloon. We also had an appearance with Madame Muchmoney’s Snubble, who almost seems like a walking easter egg at this point. 

We will have to see if today’s episode actually results in the party making it to Azalea town! Let’s jump in!

After last week’s trek to Charicific Valley, we have another unique episode that focuses on a specific Pokémon. Grin to Win takes us to Bloomingvale where we meet Sonrisa and a town filled with Sunflora Trainers. With the Sunflora Festival bringing everyone together for a Pokémon Contest, Team Rocket creates a plan for Meowth to enter, as a Sunflora! The Shenanagans ensue and we see a side of Meowth like never before! We climax with an epic battle where multiple Team Rocket Pokémon make an appearance, and we see Chikorita competing with Pikachu for MVP!

Gotta Watch’em All Podcast 130 - Charizard’s Burning Ambitions

After last episode’s battle with the Arbotank, Team Rocket is going to have to pull something out really bug, I mean, big, if they want to take on the twerps! This time we see the party continuing on their journey when they stumble upon Charicific Valley, which you guessed it, is filled with Charizard. We meet Liza, and her Charizard Charla, who operates a Charizard Sanctuary with a unique approach to training Charizards.

While Brock falls in love, we see Ash put his Charizard to the test in both battle and loyalty. Ash feels a bit too over confident, and we see that his Charizard isn’t as formidable as he thinks. There are many clashes between Charizard, with some that are nearly twice the size of Ash’s. 

Team Rocket shows up not with an Arbotank, but with a giant Big Catcher trojan horse abomination, as they shift their sights from Pikachu to Charizard. We get to see a bit of Jesse and James’ softer sides, as they actually end up cheering for Ash’s Charizard in battle. That is of course, until they get blasted off… again.
