    Jeremy David Engels, PhD, is a Liberal Arts Professor of Communications and Ethics at Pennsylvania State University.  He is an author and longtime teacher of mindfulness, meditation, and yoga.  A former student of Thich Nhat Hahn, he is dedicated to bringing the practice of mindfulness to democracy, and the practice of democracy to mindfulness.  He is an award winning scholar, and has published numerous books and articles about democracy, community building, deliberation and peace including Living Namaste (2026, Inner Traditions--which is the subject of this podcast), On Mindful Democracy (Parallax 2026--the subject of EOTR episode 337); The Ethics of Oneness:  Emerson, Whitman, and the Bhavagad Gita (UChicago 2021); and The Art of Gratitude (SUNY Press 2018)

    Episode 347: Tobias Churton: "Celestial Realms: A History of Heaven"

    A world authority on Gnostic spirituality, Tobias Churton is Britian's leading scholar in the field of Western Esotericism.  Holding a Masters degree in Theology from Brasenose College, Oxford University, England, he was appointed Honorary Fellow and Faculty Lecturer in Western Esotericism at Exeter University in 2005.  Michigan University professor Gabriele Boccaccini's invitation in 2019 to participate in The Enoch Seminar in Florence, was followed by Churton's The Lost Pillars of Enoch, published in 2020 and The Books of Enoch Revealed (2025).  Tobias is also a filmmaker, poet, composer of songs and orchestral works, and author of acclaimed biographies of William Blake, Aleister Crowley, Elias Ashmole and G.I. Gurdjieff.  His twenty-eight published titles include The Gnostics, The History of the Rosicrucians, Freemasonry:  The Reality, The Spiritual Meaning of the Sixties, Occult Paris and Celestial Realms:  A History of Heaven (which is the subject of this podcast).  He has lectured widely and his academic papers on Crowley, The Yezidis, Rosicrucianism, Freemasonry, the French Occult Revival, the Enochic tradition, and on Alchemy have appeared in prestigious anthologies published across the western world.

    David Linder is a Swiss author and falconer who has studied the runes and Norse mythology extensively with a focus on practical applications.  His new book, Advanced Rune Magic (2026), has been described as:  "a valuable addition--with insight into tradition as well as innovative creativity that gives the reader new perspectives on the runes.  The book is rooted in historical runology and highlights esoteric aspects of the medieval rune poems, while being at the same time applicable to contemporary practitioners."  Edren Thorsson has also described the book as "a mythic travelogue through the mysteries of the runes.     Joshua Pritikin, Ph.D. is a psychological counselor, author, and researcher whose work explores the intersection of belief, consciouness, and personal transformation.  After beginning his career in the software industry, he pivoted toward the study of the mind, earning a Ph.D. in quantitative psychology from the University of Virginia in 2022 and later becoming an Internal Family Systems (IFS) Certified Practitioner.  Drawing on a interdisciplinary background that spans science, philosophy, and lived experience, Pritikin brings a distinctive perspective to questions traditionally explored through religion and psychology.  He maintains a private practice and lives in the Pacific Northwest.
