Play, Rhythm, and Divinatory Skills with Laura Tempest Zakroff

In this episode, I’m joined by the brilliant Laura Tempest Zakroff — artist, author, performer, and modern Traditional Witch, whose work sits at the crossroads of art, embodiment, divination, and magic.
We discuss Laura’s newest book, Tarot by Tempest: Playing with Numbers, Meaning & Movement, and why play is a vital part of divination: it's often the doorway back into creativity, intuition, and real insight. (A topic I'm very passionate about as well!)
    In this episode, we discuss
How movement and embodiment shift the way we read symbols (and how to “get out of your head” at times.)
Reading tarot through numbers, patterns, and energetic motion.
Using art as a spiritual technology: creativity, meaning-making, and getting unstuck.
Laura's next oracle deck projects, based in the Northeast of the US.

Solomon Pakal on Mayan Astrology, Magic, and Divination

    16.03.2026 | 1 t. 8 min.
    Send us Fan Mail
In this episode, I’m joined by Solomon Pakal - founder of the Mayan Mystery School, historian, and longtime occult practitioner - for a conversation on astrology, tarot, and the depth of Maya traditions of magic and divination.

We speak about his perspective on tarot, the importance of understanding divination within a larger cultural and cosmological framework, and the vastness of Maya magical and divinatory traditions. This is a conversation about worldviews as much as methods —about what becomes possible when we approach older traditions with seriousness, humility, and curiosity.

A note for our listeners: If you’d like a bit of (free) support for your own practice, there is now a free Weekly Divination Planner available to download at coffeeanddivination.com. And new content will soon be arriving on Greek alphabet divination, question-tech for divination, and much more.

Solomon is a fantastic speaker and guest, and I encourage you to find him on Instagram and Substack to see more of his works.

Enjoy the episode, and if you find it interesting, share it with friends who might want to learn more.

In this conversation, we keep things practical and accessible as we talk about how to learn tarot well: building real skill through repetition and reflection, learning to trust what you’re seeing, and developing your own unique style—your tarot identity—instead of trying to read exactly like someone else. We also explore different approaches to tarot spreads and how to choose a layout that supports the kind of insight you’re actually seeking.

Spirit Speak: Practical Divination and Spirit Contact with Ivo Dominguez Jr.

    26.01.2026 | 1 t. 15 min.
    Send us Fan Mail
In this episode, I’m joined once again by Ivo Dominguez Jr. prolific author and long-time leader in the modern occult community. We’re discussing the newly updated, re-released edition of his book Spirit Speak: A Comprehensive Guide to Connect Beyond the Veil, and what it offers practitioners seeking clear, safe, grounded methods of spirit contact for divination and magical work.
Ivo is not only one of my favorite guests to speak with and learn from - he was also one of the keynote speakers for the first annual Wylde Grove Gathering Online Leadership Summit, alongside 14 other incredible presenters, this past week in January, 2026. Clips from some of the Summit roundtables - including the conversation on technology and learning in the occult world that Ivo joined - will be on the Coffee & Divination YouTube channel soon.
    In our conversation, we explored:
What the updated edition of Spirit Speak brings to modern practitioners
Techniques and “warm-ups” for divinatory work, and why those matter.
Levels of consciousness and how they affect what (and who) we perceive
Practical distinctions between different forms of spirit contact used for divination, and how to approach them responsibly
