3 True Crime Cases of Obsession, Revenge and Jealousy

    22.10.2026 | 56 min.
Three women. Three very different cases involving obsession, revenge and jealousy.

In Germany, Marianne Bachmeier took justice into her own hands inside a courtroom, sparking a national debate. In Wisconsin, Ezra McCandless claimed self-defence after a deadly confrontation, but investigators uncovered evidence that challenged her account. And in Australia, Caroline Reed Robertson's obsession with another woman's life led to a devastating crime.

In this bonus episode of True Crime Recaps, we revisit all three cases in one extended compilation, featuring new narration and case updates. From a mother's pursuit of justice to the consequences of jealousy and manipulation, these stories explore how powerful emotions can lead to irreversible decisions.

Ebby Steppach: The Discovery Near Her Abandoned Car

    20.10.2026 | 13 min.
In October 2015, 18-year-old Ebby Steppach disappeared in Little Rock, Arkansas, after making a confusing phone call to her brother. Days later, her abandoned car was discovered at Chalamont Park, with her phone, purse and personal belongings still inside.

For more than two years, Ebby's family searched for answers while questions grew about how the investigation had been handled. Reports of an unusual smell near a storm drain had not led to the discovery of her whereabouts, and investigators later acknowledged that important leads had been overlooked.

In 2018, a renewed search of the park's underground drainage system uncovered Ebby's remains inside a pipe, approximately 60 feet from where her car had been found.

Although the discovery answered where Ebby had been, it left significant questions about her final hours and how she ended up inside the drainage system. No one has been charged in connection with her death.

In this episode of True Crime Recaps, Amy examines Ebby Steppach's disappearance, the investigative shortcomings, the discovery that changed the case and the questions that remain unanswered.

April Holt: The Mother Who Challenged Her Daughter's Death Investigation

    18.10.2026 | 13 min.
In July 2023, 29-year-old April Holt was found unresponsive inside her Tennessee home. Investigators initially ruled her death a suicide, but her mother, Jamie Dickerson, questioned the findings and refused to accept that the investigation was over.

Determined to find answers, Jamie began examining the circumstances surrounding her daughter's death, requesting records and pushing authorities to take another look. Her efforts eventually brought attention to a 47-page police review report containing important forensic evidence involving April's husband, Donovan Holt.

In September 2024, Donovan was arrested and charged with reckless homicide, tampering with evidence and making a false report. He later pleaded guilty to all three charges and was sentenced in February 2025.

In this episode of True Crime Recaps, Chris examines April Holt's case, the evidence that challenged the original findings and how one mother's persistence helped bring renewed scrutiny to her daughter's death.
