- What if the thing that makes your business work isn't another strategy, but becoming more fully yourself?
In this episode of The Gates in Real Life, we explore Gate 10 in Human Design and Gene Key 10, moving from the shadow of self-obsession to the gift of naturalness and ultimately the Siddhi of Being.
Gate 10 is often associated with self-love, but this conversation goes much deeper than simply feeling good about yourself. It's about how self-love shows up in your behavior - the choices you make, the identities you hold onto, and whether you're allowing yourself to live and work as the person you naturally are.
We talk about the pressure to become a "better" or more successful version of yourself, and how easily personal development and entrepreneurship can turn into trying to become someone else.
We also explore what happens when you start letting those borrowed identities fall away and allow more of your actual voice, creativity, strengths, and personality to come through.
And, of course, we bring it into business.
Why are we so drawn to templates, swipe files, formulas, and strategies based on what worked for someone else? What happens when an effective strategy isn't sustainable for you? And could the most differentiated, sustainable business actually come from discovering your natural way of marketing, coaching, creating, and connecting with people?
We explore:
The difference between becoming someone new and remembering who you already are
How conditioning shapes the identities we perform
Why authenticity can feel surprisingly scary
The problem with copying someone else's successful business strategy
If you've ever felt like building your coaching business requires you to become someone you're not, Gate 10 offers a very different possibility.
Maybe your work isn't to create a better version of yourself. Maybe it's to let more of who you already are come through.

The difference between external success and inner equilibrium.

In this live episode of The Gates in Real Life, we explore Gate 7 in Human Design and the Gene Keys, and why authentic leadership has far less to do with authority and far more to do with service.

In this episode of The Gates in Real Life, we explore Gate 8 in Human Design and the Gene Keys - the Gate of Contribution.
Together, we unpack why trying to fit in often weakens your message, why your greatest contribution can never be copied, and what it really means to become a role model by simply being yourself.
Along the way, we explore authenticity, leadership, visibility, entrepreneurship, and the surprising courage it takes to stop performing and start expressing your own unique style.
In this conversation, we discuss:
• Why following someone else's formula can disconnect you from your own voice.
• The difference between fitting in and making your unique contribution.
• What the shadow of mediocrity really looks like in business.
• Why embodiment creates more impact than trying to impress people.

Om The Gates in Real Life: Human Design & Gene Keys for Purpose Driven Coaches
Welcome to The Gates in Real Life, where Heidi and Melissa - two holistic coaches, friends, and Human Design nerds - gather for casual, heartfelt conversations about the weekly Sun transits in Human Design and Gene Keys.
We’re all about keeping it down-to-earth and practical. No human design experience needed.
Expect to learn about the gates via our thoughts and experiences - not a boring regurgitation of someone else’s teachings. We’re here to live it out loud—through the lens of business, healing, relationships, creativity, and the real messiness of being human.
Each week, we dive into the current gate the Sun is transiting, unpacking the energy, the Gene Key shadow/gift/siddhi, and how it’s showing up in our lives and client work. It’s less textbook, more tea time. Think of it like being a fly on the wall - come sit with us, reflect with us, and maybe see your own patterns in a new light.
Perfect for sensitive souls, intuitive entrepreneurs, or anyone looking to live more aligned with cosmic timing (without the jargon or pressure to be perfect).
