The first codex of 11th Edition is in our hands, and it's loaded with green! Change is often uncomfortable, and editions changes are even more so. 11th Edition has brought a lot of changes, both small and large, to Warhammer 40K, and most of them have been pretty well-received. That said, there are a few things that have brought a bit of extra friction to the game, had unexpected impacts, or just aren't quite working as anticipated. In this episode, we look at three particular pain points that impact the armies we build, the tables we play on, and the missions we play. Are any of them deal-breakers? No, but if we address them now and figure out constructive ways to work with - or around - them, hopefully we can smooth them out and have an easier, better gaming experience! One of Games Workshop's stated goals is to bridge the gap between narrative and competitive play, and the Dominatus narrative deck is their first attempt to build that bridge. In this episode, we're going to dive into the deck and give our thoughts, along with Rob's experience with running and playing in a Dominatus league. Does the deck deliver a solid narrative experience? How well does it bring narrative and matched play together? Does it fix the issues with Crusade? How well does it handle narrative play ranging from a weekend event to a multi-month league? And what else can you do with it? It's finally here, fully playable, we've dipped our toes in, and the water is... interesting! That's right, 11th Edition is now released and we're 4 and a half (?) games in, and it's time to talk about our experiences so far.
