Haunted Canada: Ghost stories and the unexplained

Where rushing rapids once stood in the way of ships travelling between Lake Superior and the lower Great Lakes, an ingenious feat of engineering changed the course of navigation in North America.

From its opening in 1895 to today as a National Historic Site, the Sault Ste. Marie Canal has cemented its place in history. It was once the longest lock in the world and the first to run on its own electricity but it is also home to the spirit of a little girl and a staircase staff call the stairway to hell.

In this episode, Nadine Bailey is joined by sits down Shanna Shipperbottom from Parks Canada to explore the stories that keep staff out of the buildings after dark.
