In this episode of Carioca Connection, Alexia and Foster get into three words about pressure and limits, tankar, sem condições, and aura, told entirely in natural Brazilian Portuguese.
Alexia is honest that she's never heard anyone say tankar out loud, only online, and she isn't sold on it: it collapses aguentar, suportar, and lidar com into one word when those three feel completely different to her. Sorting them out is the best part of the episode, along with Foster's question about suporte versus apoio, which is the trap every English speaker falls into. Then there's sem condições, which Alexia has said her whole life as a hard no, and which Gen Z now uses for good news too. Aura arrives by way of the World Cup, and neither of them plans to start using it.

In this episode of Carioca Connection, Alexia and Foster keep going with Gen Z slang, this time on ghosting, red flag, and ranço, told entirely in natural Brazilian Portuguese.
Two of the three come straight from English and stay that way. Alexia explains why ghosting never becomes a Portuguese verb, so you say ela me deu ghosting instead, and why bandeira vermelha exists but nobody actually says it. The third, ranço, is homegrown: that fast, sticky dislike that lands somewhere near the English "ick." Foster asks the questions a learner would actually ask, so you get the grammar and the feel of each word inside a real conversation instead of a vocabulary list. This is how Brazilian Portuguese slang behaves in the wild, and no textbook will show you that.
